The story behind the artwork

My self-portrait closes the Still Loud series.

I did not create it because I see myself as an icon. I created it because I felt I owed something to myself — to my own voice, my own work, and the talent I had finally decided to believe in.

After portraying women who, to me, represent strength, femininity, pain, elegance, and defiance, I turned the image inward.

Not as an act of self-presentation, but as an admission:

I belong here too.
My story has value too.
My face can also carry the image of something I spent years learning to believe in.

This self-portrait holds a deeper meaning for me. While assembling the mosaic, I was not only building an image of my face — I was also rebuilding my sense of identity.

Each wooden pixel became part of an inner affirmation: that I do not need to wait for permission to call myself an artist.

The piece is a quiet, yet firm statement.

About believing in my own path.
About accepting imperfection.
About the moment I stop hiding behind my work and allow myself to stand beside it.
